Terms and Conditions
TERMS OF BUSINESS: Rates are inclusive of full English breakfast, VAT and
service charges. Extras charged to your bill are any drinks you have in the
bar, flowers, champagne etc.
DEPOSITS, CANCELLATION AND NO SHOWS: To secure a reservation we charge a
non-refundable deposit of one night’s accommodation for each room booked. A
booking made with the Cottage is a contract. As a small accommodation
business we do not operate an overbooking policy. We respectfully point out
that if you cancel a booking the deposit cannot be refunded.
If you do not arrive on the first night of your booking we will wait until
9pm for you. After that we will assume you are not coming.
If you make a cancellation you will lose the first nights deposit. However,
if your booking is for more than one night the following rules apply:
Seven days notice: You will be charged the first nights accommodation only
Less than seven days notice: You will be charged the first nights
accommodation, and although we will endeavour to sell your room for the
remaining nights any shortfall in income to the Cottage Lodge will be
charged to your credit card. This could be the cost of the full amount of
your booking.
Once checked in, if you cut short your stay we will do our best to resell
your room for the remaining nights but you will be liable for any loss
Cottage Lodge makes. This could be the cost of the full amount of your stay.
CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT: You are welcome to check in from 9am until 9pm, when
reception closes. Check out is 11am. We are happy to store bags for those
travelling by train. We do our best to prioritise rooms for early arrivals
but we cannot guarantee room availability before 2pm. We reserve the right
to refuse entry after 9pm.
BREAKFAST: Breakfast is served from 8.15am to 10am Mon to Fri and from 8.45am to 10.30am Saturday and Sunday. We can deliver a light ‘picnic’
breakfast to your room the evening before an early start if you let us know
in advance.
SMOKING: We operate a non-smoking policy throughout the building and
grounds. This is also a condition of our insurance. Very occasionally we
have guests who are not up to speed with the new smoking regulations. We
would just like to take this opportunity to remind visitors who smoke that
from the 1st July 2007 it is illegal to smoke inside a public, confined
space. This includes bedrooms. At Cottage Lodge was also ask guests not to
smoke in the grounds in case smoke drifts up into the rooms around.
If anyone smokes in a room, or damages a room, in such a way that it effects
the next person coming into that room we reserve the right to charge for all
costs associated with the guests behaviour.
We reserve the right to charge for resetting the fire alarm, relocating
guests, cleaning rooms or any other costs associated with any guest who
smokes anywhere in the building or grounds.
CHILDREN: We welcome children aged 10+.
SECURITY & PERSONAL BELONGINGS: While staff do all they can to ensure that
guests’ belongings are safe and secure at all times we cannot accept any
responsibility for loss or damage to guests’ property in the hotel building,
car park and grounds. Please store valuable items in the in-room safes
provided.
PAYMENT: We accept payment by credit card (except Amex) or cash only. We do
not accept cheques.
PETS: We have one dog-friendly guest room. Pets are not permitted in any
other part of the building.
DAMAGE: Very occasionally guests cause damage during their stay such as
leaving red wine, coffee, and other stains on the bed linen or carpets. We
reserve the right to charge for any cleaning or replacement costs.
HEALTH AND SAFETY: parts of the building date back to 1650 – the stairs are
steep and ceilings low. Drive slowly over the cattle grids as you enter and
exit the car park - especially if your car has low clearance. Please use the
pedestrian gate when leaving the building on foot.
